About us
The Alpha Océan ** is situated just metres from the slipway in the ‘Rochebonne’ area of Saint Malo. Saint Malo’s vast ‘Sillon’ beach is on your doorstep and you can park close by.
Within a ten minute walk along the seawall you will reach Saint Malo’s seawater spa. Further on, with the sights and sounds of the sea still on your right, you will reach the old walled town of Saint Malo (otherwise known as the ‘Cité Corsaire’ on account of its privateering past), a 30 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel is one of the best places to watch the sunrise and the sunset and from a room with sea view, away from both the wind and sea spray, you can also enjoy the blustering waves we enjoy during equinoctial storms.
Hotel Alpha Océan gives you a true taste of St Malo and the Emerald Coast – We are sure you will return again and again.
A Brief history...
The ALPHA OCEAN hotel was built in 1901 close to the Rochebonne shoreline on the boulevard of the same name. On the other side of the road there was a hotel called “Quic en Groigne”. Its signage was fixed between two lightning conductor rods fitted along the whole length of its roof ridges and could therefore be seen from far away. This building was one of the first built on the Rochebonne dunes.
Back to our hotel … the ALPHA OCEAN was built by a Monsieur Calvet (owner and director of the ‘Grand Hôtel de Courtoisville’) on the site of the ‘Terrasses’ Café and Restaurant… Twenty-eight rooms were planned - all fitted with first class furnishings.
